Taking Center Stage in Vicksburg this Summer

Three great productions will be taking to stages throughout the city this summer:  The 60th Annual Miss Mississippi Pageant, Ritz on the River and Gold in the Hills.  Each has its own unique brand of entertainment and all will deliver an evening of entertainment to remember.  Here are the details that you will need for planning an evening of fun and entertainment in Vicksburg.

Gold in the Hills, the Guinness Book of World Records’ longest-running show, is now in its 81st season at the Parkside Playhouse.  With fun for the whole family you can actively participate in the show as you sing the old songs, cheer the hero and boo the villain!  The play features a relentless hero, a winsome heroine, a ruthless villain, beautiful can-can dancers and the wilder side of city life in the infamous New York Bowery.  You can enjoy this timeless production Friday and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. on June 2,3,9,10,16, and 17.  For ticket information and directions to the Parkside Playhouse, click here.

The week of June 19th, the beautiful and talented contestants vying for the coveted crown of Miss Mississippi 2017 and thousands of dollars in scholarships will take the stage at the Vicksburg Convention Center.  On Monday June 19 Vicksburg Main Street will present the Miss Mississippi Pageant Parade at 7:00 p.m. along Washington Street in historic downtown. 

You will have the opportunity to meet these talented young ladies at autograph parties throughout the city.  On June 19th there be a Miss Mississippi Autograph Party at The Outlets at Vicksburg from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.  On June 21st the contestants will be autographing at George Carr Buick Cadillac GMC from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m.  On June 22nd the caravan of beauties will be signing autographs in shops along Washington Street.  

The Mississippi Pageant will be presented at 8:00 p.m. each evening June 21 – 24 at the Vicksburg Convention Center.  Wednesday through Friday the young ladies will be competing in the preliminaries leading up to the crowning of the Miss Mississippi.  Tickets are $30 for Wednesday and Thursday nights, $40 for Friday night and $50 for the crowning on Saturday.  You can purchase tickets for all events for $125.  It is rumored that more than 25 previous Miss Mississippi winners will be in attendance. 

Now, for the ultimate date night:  Ritz on the River.  Vicksburg will celebrate the Golden Age of Glitz and the Roaring 20th Anniversary of the Vicksburg Convention Center at the 4th Annual Ritz on the River.  The Downtown Band from Nashville, Tennessee, an award winning high-energy 10-piece dance band will take the stage for evening of great music and dancing.  Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 8:00 p.m.  Dinner tickets are $50 per person and are only sold in advance.  General admission tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Click here to purchase tickets.
