1-2 You are cordially invited to the Sesquicentennial celebration of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 5930 Warrior's Trail. On November 1, the congregation of St. Alban's will light the Luminaries in the church Cemetery at 6 p.m. On November 2, at 10 a.m., there will be a special church service celebrating this 150th anniversary with a Dinner-on-the-Grounds to follow and Period Encampment Activities. 1 Walk, Stroll, or Roll-a-thon: “Bridging The Gap” Over the Historic Mississippi River Bridge. This is the first fundraising event sponsored by LIFE of Mississippi benefiting Mississippians with Disabilities. This non-competitive 5k event will take place on the old Mississippi River Bridge at 9 a.m.. Event day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the base of the bridge behind the Mississippi Welcome Center. The route will take participants across the bridge and back, approximately 3.1 miles. Volunteers will be located strategically on the route for anyone who may need assistance. Refreshments and door prizes will also be provided. 1 The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation presents Holiday Clay Time, an introductory class to polymer clay, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.. The Central Mississippi Polymer Clay Guild will conduct this fun and educational workshop. Registration is $45/SCHF members and $50/Non-members. All supplies are included. The Central Mississippi Polymer Clay Guild wants to share their love of polymer clay with you. This introductory class is a great opportunity to try your hand at creating two unique Christmas projects from this versatile art medium. The projects will be a snowflake pin and a Santa ornament or a pin. Even if you’ve never taken the wrapper off a block of polymer clay, this class is for you. Members of the Central Mississippi Polymer Clay Guild ( www.cmspcg.com) will be on hand to help you every step of the way. Space is limited and reservations are required. 3 November 3, 2008 at 4 p.m. – The Delta Queen Tribute Event for Vicksburg will be at the downtown riverfront. The program is one hour in length and will feature a presentation to the city, medley of river music by the Delta Queen Band, remarks by the Delta Queen’s Captain from the bow of the boat and calliope concert.
4 Seasonal Wreath Workshop at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center, 6-8 p.m. Presented by Beau Lutz of Belvedere & Company. Decorate your front door for the holidays with a designer wreath. Hands-on instruction will be provided and all participants will learn to create a wreath of their own to take home. Each student will choose from 3 classic wreath styles. Whether you would like to create a fall/Thanksgiving wreath or a Classic Christmas design, Beau will assist in the design of that perfect creation. Registration is $55/SCHF members and $60/non-members. All materials needed for this workshop will be provided, however, participants are encouraged to bring their own glue gun.
